Joining the Alliance, Shackletons have submitted an action plan setting out how they are delivering the outcomes of The Dementia Action Alliance declaration.
Their main commitment will be to direct funds to their research and development division allowing resources to focus on innovation within the design and manufacture of furniture specifically for people with dementia.
Already meeting commitments Shackletons staff are continually improving their knowledge and understanding of dementia through attending specific training courses. The research and development team have launched a new dementia focused bedroom furniture range and the design team have specified new fabrics to help users with cognitive and visual impairment.
Jason Bloom, National Sales Manager at Shackletons says: “We have signed up to the Dementia Action Alliance to support the national programme which is there to lobby for awareness and improved understanding of the needs of people with dementia. Our input is ensuring design enhances and maintains a fulfilling and independent lifestyle within a care environment.”
