The former Edwardian farm house in Haxby enlists care furniture specialists Shackletons to create a relaxing and sophisticated environment that would focus on the comfort needs of residents whilst supporting mobility, safety, freedom and enjoyment.
Charles Helfferrich, Owner of Ivy Lodge says: “Some of our residents are less able and it’s important their mobility and comfort isn’t compromised. Shackletons provided us with furniture that is perfectly designed and adjusted to suit the needs and requirements of all of our 33 residents – but more importantly not at the expensive of design and comfort.”
The care home has benefitted from new high and low back lounge chairs and more appropriate dining chairs made by skilled craftsmen to provide the perfect balance between support and softness.
“We have a very intimate home and wanted to move away from the stereotypical image of what people think a care home looks like. From soft mink and stone to relaxing blues we’ve created an environment that is an oasis of calm. One resident actually said they feel like they’re in the Ritz which is a huge compliment and just what we wanted to achieve.”
Ivy Lodge is a long established family owned and run care home. Formerly an Edwardian farm house, the building has undergone an extensive development and refurbishment programme to provide light, spacious and well equipped accommodation of a very high standard to provide residents with more comfort and overall dignity.
