Shackletons was selected by Lustedgreen on the refurbishment of this luxury care home in West London, which has been announced as a finalist in the prestigious Knight Frank Luxury Healthcare Awards 2024.
The Kensington is a residential care home set in an elegant Georgian home in the heart of London. Interior designers at Lustedgreen were appointed to refurbish this period property with a brief to elevate the interior for a more premium and luxurious feel that complemented the period features of the property. The project included the refurbishment of the first-floor dining room and the 49 bedrooms.
The project was completed in three phases to minimise disruption to residents and carers while the work was ongoing.
Using Shackleton’s Arlington bedroom range as inspiration, bespoke bedroom cabinetry was designed, which was finished in Cashmere with Grey Nordic for a calm and soothing aesthetic. Fitted wardrobes with integrated lighting and built-in storage with open shelving, along with integrated TV units and fridges, were among the bespoke cabinetry options. Free-standing cabinetry included Arlington dressers, drawers, and bedside cabinets. The shapely Valls chairs, which included a wing back chair and side chair, with contrast piping and accent studding and a Denia footstool were chosen to match the Alington bedroom furniture. The Aberford single pedestal table was incorporated into the larger suites to give residents an additional seating area.
The first-floor dining room was tastefully refurbished in calming neutral and green hues that complemented the Dark Eucalyptus wood finish. Lustedgreen selected a variety of dining tables, including the Hamilton and Fairmont models, as well as the Toledo dining armchairs upholstered in an olive-green faux leather and oatmeal basket weave. The Linford console table was included for useful storage as well as an accent piece.
The refurbishment has produced a luxurious yet tranquil oasis for both residents and staff. The home was also delighted to be chosen as a finalist in the 2024 Knight Frank Luxury Care Home Awards 2024 in the Care Home Renovation category.
