Role Overview: 

We are looking to recruit a full-time Purchasing Assistant, working as part of a small, dynamic team, reporting to the Purchasing Manager. Contributing within a fast-paced and busy manufacturing business, candidates must be motivated, pro-active, and organised.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Analyse inventory levels, demand forecasts and consumption patterns to place POs to optimise stock levels and reduce carrying costs.
  • Raising daily, weekly and ad hoc purchase orders and emailing to suppliers.
  • Checking order confirmations from suppliers, clarifying any issues and updating NAV to reflect changes to orders and accurate delivery dates.
  • Communicating order impacts clearly and quickly to the sales and production teams to minimise production and customer impacts.
  • Liaising with Goods In departments to ensure they are fully prepared for deliveries.
  • Reviewing weekly Goods In reports to chase supplier deliveries.
  • Maintaining required paperwork for delivery notes etc and database of supplier information.
  • Ability to make independent decisions to ensure stock is available, whilst mitigating cost implications.
  • Reporting on supplier KPIs and OTIF to ensure timely issue resolution and security of supply.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to scope ad hoc new requirements, understand departmental impacts and timelines, and ensure all procurement processes are followed.

Key Skills & Experience: 

  • Ideally 2 years minimum experience in a similar role – buying or purchasing.
  • Qualified to graduate or equivalent level and showing an interest in pursuing professional qualifications.
  • Good problem-solving skills with a logical and analytical approach, as well as an adaptable mind-set.
  • Confident decision maker under pressure.
  • Pro-active to ensure potential future component issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Strong numerical skills with experience utilising Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong IT capabilities, literate in Microsoft Office packages.
